NOTICES - 7 March 2010

CONGREGATIONAL STATED ANNUAL MEETING
This will be held on Tuesday 23rd March at 7:30 pm in the West Room.
The first part of the evening will consist of two presentations - one from the Nursery & High School on the planned “Eco-Garden” to be created in our grounds and the second from Chris Long on his work and plans for Youth Ministry in the Congregation and District. Thereafter, at the formal Stated Annual Meeting, the Accounts for 2009 and the Budget for 2010 will be presented. In addition, the Grounds and Fabric Convenors will describe the work done in 2009 and there will be an update on progress on the Options Study to decide how to deal with the Castle. Board members serve for a period of three years and this meeting is an opportunity for members of the Congregation who would like to serve on the Congregational Board to be elected. If you are interested, please speak to an Elder or myself.

LENT PRAYERS
Early morning prayers are on Fridays from 7 – 7.30am in the Dorothy Lloyd room, until Good Friday 2nd April. Please consider making this sacrifice and come along.

SUNDAY EVENINGS AT MAXWELL
Starting next week, 14 March 2010, we will be reverting to the earlier time of 7.00 pm for our evening services and events. It is hoped that more folk will be able to attend at an earlier time.

TEARFUND
I’m sure you are all aware that we are now in the season of Lent which started on 17th February and finishes at Easter. Each of us can make Lent significant in a number of ways – and it’s not too late to start. As we look ahead to the sacrificial death of Jesus on the cross, we may decide to spend more time reading the Bible each day, perhaps reading through one of the Gospel accounts; or we may choose to give up chocolate or some other favourite food; or we may decide to do something to help others; or make a change in our lifestyle that will reduce our carbon footprint and so help our neighbours in other parts of the world where they are most affected by climate change. Some of you joined the Carbon Fast last year and tried to cut down on car and electricity use during Lent. Why not take up the challenge again or for the first time this year as a way of thinking more of others and less of ourselves. Carbon Fast cards are available in the hall vestibule. Christian Aid also have some good ideas for Lent. The website
is www.christianaid.org.uk/lent.  Elspeth Burgess

TUESDAY LADIES BIBLE STUDY
We will be meeting on Tuesday 9 March at 8pm at the home of 5 St. Vigeans Place, hopefully studying DVD’s on the life of Peter, by Michael Card (if we can locate them!). Petrina McTear

Causeway Prospects is a mission to people with learning disabilities, helping them to understand the love of God in a way that is meaningful to them. On Saturday, 13 March at 7.30pm, there will be a concert in the church to raise money for Causeway. We are delighted that talented people of all ages, from our church and beyond, have agreed to participate in the varied programme of songs and instrumental music. Tickets Elspeth Burgess
